Submitted 11 months ago By Peter From Virginia Reviewed at The top of the cuff of show comes up pretty high and it's not very comfortable. Submitted 1 year ago By MC From Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Reviewed at I bought these shoes for a trip to Antigua, Guatemala. They performed very well in the cobbled street of the city. The color looks darker in the photos, that is true.BOA plus Vibram plus wide toe box = great shoes! Submitted 1 year ago By Roberto From Las Vegas, NV Reviewed at So far, the pair has been able to endure about about 200+ miles. No \"major\" tear, soft and comfortable from the start. I'm really excited to see how they perform in cocodona 250 next week. Submitted 1 year ago By Sam From Virginia Reviewed at The pictures make them look much darker than they actually are, which was half the reason I bought them cause the color scheme was fire... or at least I thought it was. Instead of black and gray with an orange-tan highlight from the soles, they're actually just gray and bright gray, with muted tan soles that don't highlight at all. Submitted 1 year ago By Tim L From Central Oregon Reviewed at I own this shoe in black. The sole is plush, comfortable, and grippy. The BOA lacing system is awesome. I wish every shoe came with it. The shoe feels very sturdy and durable. I bought another pair of the \"and Wander\" collab because I thought the warm gray looked even better than the black. Unfortunately, the product photos are deceptive. In reality, the gray is bluish, not warm. The colors are less saturated and lighter than in the photos. If you're into cool-toned light gray you might love the look. Likewise, the fabric is nothing special either. It's like the black, but light, cool gray. One other thing worth noting about the fit. The Timp does not feature the roomy toebox that originally put Altra on the map. It's not narrow. But don't expect the kind of toe room you get in a Lone Peak or an Escalante with this shoe. There is a noticeable difference.I have no problem recommending this shoe. It's fantastic if you can live with reduced space for your toes to splay out. But I'd do it in black, not the more expensive \"and Wander\" collaboration. Submitted 1 year ago By Chi From VA Reviewed at First pair of Altras! Have been looking for the right first pair, saw the pics and I was hooked. I have wideish feet, but not a problem at all in these, and the Boa lacing lockdown is perfect! Submitted 1 year ago By Robert From Amsterdam Reviewed at - I have a relatively high instep on my foot and just trying them on there was too much tention on the top part of the shoe.- BOA system sounds great but it doesn't allow for asymmetric tightening- Heel is not as good as on other shoes and was not locking (would cause blisters).- Immediate pressing on the side of my foot coming from the top of the shoe. Marked on the image. If you compare to other shoes, this part is much higher and not angled. Overall, super uncomfortable after just taking a few steps in my living room. Sent back immediately. Tread pattern provides plenty of traction on gravel and trail. My only issue is the higher/padded upper heel in the back compared to the Timp 5. This may just be my anatomical build vs an issue with the shoe, but it rubs the back of my ankle raw. May have to switch back to Timp 5 or find a lower profile option in Altra trail line. Submitted 13 days ago By Lawrence From Denver, CO Reviewed at Ran on these brand new for Georgia Death Race Really impressed. Feet were in great shape after 50 miles. They run long, though - might order half a size down. Square ankle collar is a terrible choice. Submitted 1 month ago By Sarah From Bend, Oregon Reviewed at I bought the Timp 6 in anticipation that it would be a great shoe for some long trail walks. At first I thought they would work well, yet after some walks I realized they were too short for my feet for how I hoped to use them and therefore am not keeping them. They do run more narrow than my usual Lone Peaks. The cushion and sole are great and I think it would be a great shoe if you get the right fit and are okay with a narrower toe box and a tighter fit over the top of the foot. Submitted 2 months ago By Charlie From NY Reviewed at For years I have worn 12.5s from Altra multiple models but for some reason they were too large and I hade too size down to 12s. Good overall but would like the pull tab on the back too be a little larger. Please keep the subdued color options, not available on some models. Submitted 2 months ago By Marcus From United Kingdom Reviewed at I have used these so far as road-to-trail shoes (about 50/50 because I need to run on a road to get to my nearest trail) and I absolutely love them. They fit my (wide at the toe knuckle, with a slight bunion forming on one side) feet perfectly. Even though they have a nicely cushioned stack height, the foam is slightly firm and responsive, soyou still get much more ground feel compared to my softer road shoes (Novablast). The grip is phenomenal, and you really notice it on steep ascents and decents, as well as when making quick switchbacks. There is also no ankle strain which I sometimes get in higher running shoes. I'm sold on zero drop now - I feel like these babies have acted as a bit of gateway drug. I now want to buy equivalent road only shoes. There is some transition if you're not used to zero drop; after the first couple of 10/15k runs my calves ached a very little bit as they got used to it, but now it feels brilliant - the feeling is just much more natural for me. I tried the Timp 5, which was too narrow across my toe knuckles, so sent them back; these are definitely a bit wider in that area, but not to the extent that they feel at all sloppy. Great lockdown at the back with a runner's knot. Overall wonderful shoes - please don't change anything!! Submitted 2 months ago By Avi From Juno Beach Florida Reviewed at This shoe is very well cushioned with a Vibram sole. I replaced the insole with a custom orthotic and it's my favorite shoe I have in my current rotation. I have a Lone Peak 9+ pair as well that I like but, these old bones prefer the Timp 6. Submitted 3 months ago By BrianQ From Thailand Reviewed at I'm currently traveling the world and trying to be minimalistic. My Timps are serving as both running and hiking shoes. The Vibram bottoms are sticky for the trails and the overall shoe is still a classic Altra-zero drop, wide, and comfy! Submitted 3 months ago By Well- Made Trail Shoe, But Too Narrow From Texas Reviewed at I generally only buy the lone peaks as they are the only trial shoes they sell in wide options, but I wanted a slight increase in cushion. The timps are too narrow. I really wish they would make a wide option in this shoe. Submitted 3 months ago By HBLDENALI From Manitou, Colorado Reviewed at I've worn Altras for trail running, hiking, and backpacking for years (except for winter backpacking trips). Zero drop and the wide toe box are non-negotiable for me. Altra IMHO rocks. For a long time, the Lone Peak was my go to. It's a great shoe, but I need a bit more cushioning and underfoot protection, which led me to the Timp 6. The added cushion is noticeable without feeling overly soft, and the updated tread has felt solid and predictable on trail while still having plenty of feel. I've only had the Timps out a couple of times so far, but so far love the Cush and traction. I do miss the wider base of the Lone Peak, especially on off-camber sections, but even with the slightly narrower platform and extra cushioning, the shoe still feels stable. The wide toe box is a necessity for me. I have wide feet and had a pretty extensive surgery on one foot so I need it. The zero drop just works for my stride and foot mechanics. If you like Altras, a wide toe box and zero drop, and want more cushioning than the Lone Peak the Timp 6 is a strong option. Early verdict: So far very happy with the switch. Submitted 4 months ago By Ken C From St. Louis Reviewed at A true return to form for Altra. If you thought the Timp 5 was too stiff and too cramped in the toe box, they have fixed it in this version. It now has addition flex by reducing the overlays - with the added benefit of a better look to the shoe. They have also made the toe box roomier, despite this still being listed as a standard foot shape shoe. The fit is now the same as the Timp 3s, which was my favorite Altra shoe ever, until this came along. The Timp 3 was basically a Lone Peak with added cushioning. Now with the Timp 6, you get that same connected feel of the old ones but with even more cushioning, and of course a Vibram outsole that the old ones did not have. I love these, if you cannot tell. They are perfect for road-to-trail running and perfect for long distance trail. Comparing them against the Lone Peak 9+, I really feel these are the better option because they are lighter and offer more foot protection. The Lone Peak 9+ is a very heavy shoe for some reason. Definitely give them a try, especially if you had issues with the Timp 5. I'll be buying several pairs. Timp 6 Man col. Submitted 8 months ago By Jenny From Marin County Reviewed at They're a bit snug in the toe, but I still love them. There's another reviewer who says they aren't narrow—they're just the standard foot shape. However, I have a bunch of the Experience Flow shoes, also standard shape, and the Mont Blanc are a tiny bit narrower when I hold them side by side. It might also be more of an issue with the upper than the actual shape of the foot bed. When I wear the Mont Blanc, I can see the knuckle of my big toe pushing against the fabric, which isn't something I can see in my other Altras. I'd love it if they changed that, but I'll keep buying them in the meantime. Anyways, but here's why I love them anyway… I took a risk and switched to these shoes a couple weeks before a recent 50k because I noticed my other shoes weren't draining well with water crossings. The Mont Blanc drains SO well. The carbon plate is also really cool to have in a trail shoe. If you've worn super shoes in road races, you might not be impressed with the bounce. They don't have that super fun, fast, buoyant feeling, but they do give a bit of spring. It's most noticeable to me if I'm bombing down a hill. The downhills feel like you're floating a little bit—awesome to have the carbon absorbing some of the impact when you want to really run a descent. I intentionally got the blue and gray color because I knew I'd be spending a lot of time in mud, and there's been no problem with discoloration in that color way. They clean up super well and look basically new after I hose them down. I like these so much that I think I'll keep this pair as my everyday trail shoe and then invest in one more fresh pair for actual races. So far they're holding up really well though. I recommend them to everyone. Submitted 8 months ago By Hae From Cos, Co Reviewed at lower the price and more choices of colors Submitted 10 months ago By Julie From Draper, UT Reviewed at I flat-out love these shoes! They feel similar to the Timp 5. I ran 15 miles on my first run with them, and they felt perfect! The carbon plate adds a spring to my step. They felt light, but totally stable and perfectly cushioned. Can't wait to race in them at UTMB. They are my preferred shoes for trail running, but I need to save them for my races, since they are so expensive. A few people complain that they are too narrow, but this is the Standard footbed, not the Original footbed. It is totally true to the Standard shape. My only request is to add a ROA lacing system. My only complaint is that the material in the toe box gets easily disclosed and doesn't come clean, but I'll deal with it because I like this shoe so much. Submitted 1 year ago By LeAnna From Mammoth Lakes, CA Reviewed at I've run in exclusively Lone Peaks for 8 years but wanted to try something with more cushion for my 100 miler and unfortunately these ruined my toes. Wish the toe box/width were wider like the LP! Submitted 2 years ago By Mom on the run! From Denver, Colorado Reviewed at I wore these on the Walker Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt, and have fallen in love with these. I am also trail running the Colorado Rockies in these. Their responsiveness is incredible, the sole thickness is wonderful for the trail and with a light pack, they dry quickly and they're great for feet that need the toes to spread out. The bottom of the shoe is stable on uneven terrain and the rubber is grippy. I have the gaitors that attach to the back of the shoe and the front, they work! The only way I could be happier is if they cost less. P.S. The white is not a good idea for a trail shoe. After week 1 my shoes were neon pink and beige. The black is sick, but doesn't have the carbon plate. Submitted 2 years ago By trailgal From Washington Reviewed at I wore these shoes for an ultramarathon. They are light, comfortable, easy-wearing shoes. I recommend wearing toe socks or toe protectors in these shoes, because the sides and front of the toe box are rigid, which protects you from stubbing your toes on the trail but also might cause some friction at the tips of your toes. The soles are super grippy, which was good for both climbing & descending on rough terrain. Just make sure that you're clearing obstacles with your stride when you get tired to avoid tripping! I've never worn a shoe with a carbon plate and I felt like I sensed a difference. I mostly noticed it when I was climbing steep hills because it gave me a bit of lift against my heel. As far as fit: I am usually a 10 to 10.5, and in these shoes, I wore a size 10. I had a tight fit around my heel/midfoot & plenty of room for my bunions and toes, which is what I wanted. TLDR in these shoes + toe socks, I completed an ultramarathon with zero hot spots and no blisters - great shoes. Submitted 2 years ago By angie From Westminster, CO Reviewed at I'm on the fence on these shoes. There is a bit too much floresant orange in the pigment and they look rather neon pink (80's kid so not a big deal). These are not the same foot shaped fit that the original Mont Blanc's had. They feel snug across the mid-foot and made my feet cramp really bad on the first few runs. I've relaced to skip the first hole by the toes and that sort of helps, but bottom line there isn't as much room in the toe box nor the mid foot. They fit more like a Saucony than an Altra which is disapponting. They are increadibly stiff which also probably contributed to the foot cramping, but at the same time I also feel a spring in my step and running felt effortless. I do like the improved heel fit as on the previous model I would get horrible blisters on my heels and had to modify them a bit to fix that issue. These so far have not given me any blisters. I also like that they are just as grippy as the previous model. I've tried these in mud, snow, and a freezing river crossing (thanks March Colorado weather for turning my street into a shin deep slushy water crossing) and have had no traction issues. They drain really well as well. Mont Blanc Carbon Woman col. WHITE, RED by Altra Running: comfort, performance and innovative design for your workouts. Submitted 23 days ago By Shane From Grand Rapids, MI Reviewed at I love most of the Altra's I run with but these didn't live up to the value or foot feel that I am used to. First time trying to the Timp line and I think the BOA variation is designed in a way that the tongue catches against your ankle. I didn't care for that fit. Submitted 2 months ago By Jeff From Grand Junction, CO Reviewed at Not sure why a lot of folks have a problem with the BOA placement, it seems ideally positioned. I had the regular Timp before this and I prefer this shoe style wise and running as well. I purchased the black and I get a lot of positive comments about it. It's light and feels nimble on desert trails in western Colorado. Give it a test-drive before you purchase to ensure the BOA doesn't bother you, but for me it was a go! My only minor gripe is the stretchy insert should be a bit larger and it is already fairly tight without using the BOA at all. It should be looser when you simply slip on the shoe. Submitted 2 months ago By Hop From Knoxville TN Reviewed at Love the shoe wish it had a mid size version- very cushiony BOA pretty good to stay in place- good for long walks working out. Will continue to buy ALTRA great support Submitted 4 months ago By Dustin From Draper, UT Reviewed at Great fit. Easy on and off. Submitted 5 months ago By Scotty From Bend, OR Reviewed at I use these for around town and for hiking. The BOA lacing system is quick, intuitive, snug and super easy. They are really quick and easy to slip off. They soles are supportive and comfortable.I find the width a tad snugger than the Lone Peak. I think they're a little difficult to put on. It gets easier with time and practice but they could be improved be making the heel loop a little bigger and adding a wide loop that you could slip you're finger through on the tongue to help sliding into them. Overall, another Altra winner! Submitted 5 months ago By Nelson From Buford Ga Reviewed at Very comfortable shoe Submitted 5 months ago By Ferdinand From Newport Beach, Ca Reviewed at I really wanted to like these shoes. They felt great to put on. My first run was like running on a cloud. I did a 10k mtn run and did really well. This handles downhill scrambles with aplomb. No blisters on my feet too. But i had to return them. I didn't like them. My wife told me i didn't like them. So we returned them and got her some Frenchie high heels called labotmee or something like that Submitted 5 months ago By Gavin From Steamboat Springs, CO Reviewed at I used these shoes three times on the trails and my ankle bones are so sore from the BOA that I can no longer wear them. Not a great option for a trail shoe and variable terrain. Submitted 6 months ago By Tom From Springfield, VA Reviewed at I had high hopes for the BOA closure for these but the main issue at concern is if you have ANY sort of instep, the cuffed tongue will cut off your circulation, I physically had to cut the band on the cuff in order to wear it semi comfortably. Second issue is the BOA, the unit itself CANNOT pull the strings evenly no matter what tried. I pulled the strings first then tried tightening the BOA which doesn't work because there ends up being too much line for it to retract. Then I tried tightening the BOA then pulling the slack and retightening the BOA which causes the shoe to be to tight. So no matter what I do it cannot get a good wrap on my foot. I have since given up and now the pair sits in the closet along with others shoes that just didn't workout. So I cannot personally recommend these unless you have flat feet. Submitted 7 months ago By tynelson33 From SLC, UT Reviewed at The Timp 5 BOA's are so awesome, I love them. I never been a BOA guy, never thought I would be, but as soon as I saw this shoe I had to have it on looks alone. Greatly impressed by the fit and the comfort. The sock like feel is amazing, it's very stable and secure. It's interested how a shoe can be constructed so differently without laces. I have a grey pair for the trails, and the black have turned into my training and bike commuting shoe. A+ highly recommend.","images":"https://cdn2.altrarunning.filoblu.com/rx/q_100,w_1920,ofmt_webp/media/catalog/product/A/L/AL0A85Q9160_01.jpg,https://cdn2.altrarunning.filoblu.com/rx/q_100,w_1920,ofmt_webp/media/catalog/product/A/L/AL0A85Q9160_02.jpg,https://cdn2.altrarunning.filoblu.com/rx/q_100,w_1920,ofmt_webp/media/catalog/product/A/L/AL0A85Q9160_03.jpg,https://cdn2.altrarunning.filoblu.com/rx/q_100,w_1920,ofmt_webp/media/catalog/product/A/L/AL0A85Q9160_04.jpg,https://cdn2.altrarunning.filoblu.com/rx/q_100,w_1920,ofmt_webp/media/catalog/product/A/L/AL0A85Q9160_05.jpg,https://cdn2.altrarunning.filoblu.com/rx/q_100,w_1920,ofmt_webp/media/catalog/product/A/L/AL0A85Q9160_06.jpg","availability":1,"size":null,"category":"unknown","start_time":1775954960.4741237,"title":"Timp 5 BOA Man","page_size":1317753,"priority":2,"source":"Altrarunning-Eu","price":"2299.00","status":"COMPLETED","sku":"AL0A85Q9160","updated":1775954971.983504,"page_fetch_time":4.130777597427368,"brand":"Altra Running | Official Website","crawl_id":"5c8a7103e8f4f5c3b73a7a6577550f88","page_processing_time":6.867807388305664,"ref_source_url":"https://www.altrarunning.eu/se/man.html","document_id":"69bf11bea3f9383758214cc6","primary_image":"https://cdn2.altrarunning.filoblu.com/rx/q_100,w_1920,ofmt_webp/media/catalog/product/A/L/AL0A85Q9160_01.jpg","created":1774129598.888162,"gender":"men","pdp_url":"https://www.altrarunning.eu/se/timp-5-boa-man-al0a85q9160.html","end_time":1775954971.4727094,"position":100},{"region_code":"EU","color":"GRAY/ORANGE","category_size":180,"currency":"/ SEK","descriptions":"It’s a legendary shoe, now with a legendary Vibram® Megagrip outsole for fierce grip. But then I discovered LP which have been just perfect. Imagine my disappointed when that now are narrower at the forefoot as the midfoot part reaches in to where the forefoot used to begin, and where the foot is the widest there's some kind of support strip that put pressure on the proximal phalanx joint. So for the first time I've got pain from using a pair of the original footshape models. Furthermore they aren't gripping around the heel as well as previous models, so there's a risk of blisters and to get more bits getting in to the shoe. Unless this changes for the next model. I have to find another brand. Meanwhile I have to look for the old models. Submitted 1 month ago By Sally From Atlanta GA Reviewed at I love all of my Altra's. They fit and hold up well and don't need much , if any breaking in period. But, the colors! I bought lilac- they were pink- maroon, they are purple. Don't really have a problem with them, but it's not what I was expecting. The gray ones are gray and the black ones are black, so there's that! Submitted 1 month ago By Parker From Encinitas, CA Reviewed at I ordered the taupe which really isn't taupe, it's grey... but same complaint as others about the toe box area. It pushes down onto your toe, I don't have huge big toes or anything! I went up a 1/2 size thinking maybe they were a little small, and the next half size up was way too long. I only wear Altra Lone Peaks, and always said they would be the PERFECT trail shoe if they made vibrato bottoms. Unfortinly returned both pairs and will wait to see if they tweak things a big for the lone peak 10+ :) Submitted 1 month ago By KC From Kansas City Reviewed at I have been hiking in Lone Peaks for 6+ years and they solved all my foot issues; until now. Not sure what happened on the 9/9+ redesign, but the heel box is too big and my foot had numerous hot spots develop quickly. Tried all the tricks to lock in my heel, but the entire shoe is just a no-go for me now. Completely disappointed. Submitted 2 months ago By Pepper From Charleston SC Reviewed at I have used these LP 9+ shoes while hiking moderate to difficult trails carrying a 20lb pack. The wide toe box, zero drop sole, moderate cushion and superior grip are wonderful for these conditions. That said, both my husband and I have the same issue with these shoes - we have high arches and the tops of the shoes lack volume and flexibility so they end up cutting in off circulation to the toes and the bone at the top of the foot becomes bruised and painful even with creative lacing. Asking Altra company to please consider expanding the cut of material a bit in that area or putting flexible / expandable mesh across the top of the foot. That would make these the PERFECT shoes for a broader range of people. I recommend these shoes 100% to want one who does not have above average arches. Submitted 2 months ago By Maureen From Connecticut Reviewed at Overall I think this was a good fit except for the big toe height. I have normal size toes but the shoe was pushing down on the top of my toe nail even though I bought a half size larger because someone else mentioned this as well. I have several older pairs of Lone Peak and none have this issue. I've been waiting for several years for this style, or even the Escalante, to come out with a hot pink color and they don't fit. Bummer. Submitted 2 months ago By TLS From Elma, WA Reviewed at Great shoes! I have had issues with my achilles tendon for years now and all other shoes make my foot hurt. These shoes are the first that I have been able to wear directly out of the box! Submitted 3 months ago By Jane From Sunnyvale, CA Reviewed at These are the best shoes I've ever worn. From the way it anatomically conforms to my feet perfectly to the amount of cushioning and softness while hiking, they are epitome of comfort and performance. These shoes have made me a Lone Peak 9+ fan for life. Be aware that the toe box in the wide version is very generous and your feet may be swimming in the shoe unless you wear thick socks. Luckily I have thick hiking socks that fit perfectly in these shoes. I don't experience any foot problems anymore while hiking (unless it's a brutally hard and long trail after which I expect my feet to be a bit sore). Submitted 3 months ago By TA From Chicago Reviewed at Returned them. Lone peaks have always had a less cushioned footbed, but this one has even less. I got the burgundy ones and they looked more purple. Wish you made some streetwear or hired someone with an art degree. Submitted 4 months ago By V From Alabama Reviewed at The toebox volume is very low and painfully compresses my big toe. The extremely rigid rubber toecap is also very uncomfortable. These were close to great but the toebox/toecap issues ruined them. Lone Peak 9+ Woman col. GRAY by Altra Running: comfort, performance and innovative design for your workouts.
